Jože Rošer, Slovenia

French Horn


Horn player Jože Rošer was born in 1989 in Slovenj Gradec, Slovenia. He started his studies in Slovenj Gradec before enrolling in the class of Prof. Boštjan Lipovšek at the Academy of Music Ljubljana, graduating with honors in 2012. Jože went on to study his Masters degree at Mozarteum Salzburg with Prof. Radovan Vlatković. During that time, he also took time through the Erasmus programme to study in Stuttgart in the class of Prof. Erich Penzel and Prof. Christian Lampert.

Jože has won many prizes at the Slovenian national competition for young musicians TEMSIG, earning two second prizes and two first prizes as a soloist and two first prizes as a member of a horn quartet and of brass quintet Contrast. During his studies he performed both of Strauss' Horn Concertos: No.1 with Symphonic Orchestra RTV Slovenia and No. 2 with Slovenian Philharmonics. He is a member of international woodwind quintet Quintetto Spirito and international brass group Worldbrass. His brass quintet Contrast are prize winners at the international competitions Svirel 2014 and Jan Koetsier Munich 2014.

Jože is currently a solo horn player in Slovenian Philharmonics and has appeared as a guest with the: London symphony orchestra (LSO), Frankfurt Radio Orchestra, Australian Chamber Orchestra, European Union Youth Orchestra, Young Euro Classic, Symphonic orchestra RTV Slovenia and Zagreb Philharmonics.

He teaches at the Konservatory of Music and Ballet Ljubljana and is an assistant at the Academy of Music in Ljubljana.
