Ingrid Utne, Norway

Bass Trombone

Ingrid started to play the bass trombone at the age of 11 in a school band in Stavanger, Norway. After a few years of playing in the local schools brass band she was "thrown" into a regional youth symphony orchestra which was the beginning of a 10 year long journey through many different youth orchestra experiences including The Norwegian National Youth Symphony Orchestra, The Nordic Youth Symphony Orchestra and the Baltic Sea Philharmonic. In 2009 she started her studies at the Norwegian Academy of Music with Ingemar Roos, and graduated in 2016 with a bachelor and a master in music performance, with one year of master studies at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in between.

During her time as a student she has had the opportunity to play with many of the professional orchestras and wind bands in Norway, Sweden and Denmark. In August 2014, while she was still studying her master degree Ingrid was awarded the position as bass trombonist in the Gothenburg Wind Orchestra, Sweden, an ensemble she has also performed with as a soloist. Since her graduation Ingrid has been on contract with The Norrlands Opera and the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, where she is about to finish this year’s spring season.
