Trombone
Trombonist, Shawn Grocott, has made Germany his home since 1995. He left his native Canada after receiving his Bachelor of Music Education Degree from the University of Regina, his home-town. He continued his studies at the Hochschule für Musik in Detmold under Prof. Heinz Fadle as well as at the Musikhochschule Lübeck with Prof. Ehrhard Wetz where he received his Artist’s Diploma.
Shawn’s musical tastes are widely varied which tends to take him in many musical directions. Among these interests are: orchestral music, big band swing, chamber music, jazz and new music, be it composed or improvised. He is a founding member of „World Brass“, a member of the „Groenewald Newnet“, the brass quartet „Brass Unlimited“, the jazz duo, „ Shawn and the Wolf“, leads the „OWL Big Band“ and plays from time to time as a guest with the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie, Nord-West-Deutsche Philharmonie and Landestheater Detmold. Since October of 2009 he is also a trombone instructor at the Hochschule für Musik, Detmold.
